Dear Sir/Madame,

I am writing to you on purpose to inquire about the admission requirements to apply to Mechanical Engineering Department in Stanford University.

I am Ratnaganadi Paramita, a student of Brilliant Class, a class with a special program which is specified on science. I am now in 11th grade and I am interested in continuing my education in Mechanical Engineering Department in your university. Therefore, I would like to know, what the requirements are needed to apply there. Furthermore, I also would like to know whether your department needs SAT (1 or 2, or both) or TOEFL as one of the requirements or not. If it is needed, what is the range of scores needed for me to apply there?

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to you. You could contact me at ratnaganadi_paramita@hotmail.com. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Faithfully Yours,

Ratnaganadi Paramita

Dear Mr Thompson,
I read an article in the International Journal of Athlete on July 22nd about a free trip to China for the 2008 Asian Science Camp.

My brother is one of the participants in The Olympic Games. As his only sister, I would like to support him during the games. We are twins and we have never been separated since we were born, and also we always need each other especially in such a great and important time and moment of our life. He really needs my support, and we both are afraid if I am not on his side during the games, he is going to fail, although he is the most potential athlete from Indonesia. Besides, I am one of the athletes from Indonesia who is going to be the participant of the next Olympic Games in the athletics games. In addition to support my brother, I also would like to improve my knowledge about Olympic Games and about the athletics from the Olympic Games. I would like to open my mind more and more about sports and make an improvement of my self for the next Olympic Games.

I really do want to go to China to see the Olympic Games. Unfortunately, I have spent so much money for national training for athletes in Indonesia. Because of that, I do not have enough money to pay the trip to China, therefore, I do hope for this trip. I really want to go to China to support my brother, who needs me during the games. I also want to go to develop my self for the next Olympic Games. I believe that going to China for the Olympic Games is going to give a big impact for me and will impact my performance in the next Olympic Games. Of course, I also would like to share my new knowledge that I get from the Olympic Games to the other athletes in Indonesia, for the development of my country’s athletes.

I would be so thankful if you give me chance to go to China by the trip. I could be reached at the address above. My email address isĀ (…) and my phone number is (+62)817 867 xxxx.

I am really looking forward to hearing a good news from you. Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely Yours,

Ratnaganadi Paramita
